Zeroing MEME: Turning Trash into Treasure? How does Junk.Fun use a destruction mechanism to save your 0.002 SOL?
Junk.Fun is supported by @bonk_inu and incubated by @MantaNetwork, serving as a Solana MEME recovery platform.
Users can destroy “Zeroed MEME, Passive Airdropped Trash, NFTs” on Junk.Fun to exchange for SOL. After destruction, users will receive Credits on Junk.Fun.
Credits have two usage paths:
Direct withdrawal, to obtain the 0.002 SOL that was occupied by “Zeroed MEME, Passive Airdropped Trash, NFTs” that rightfully belong to you.
Open Junk.Fun treasure chests to win more SOL, physical prizes ( such as iPhone ), NFTs, and other rewards from future airdrops.
During the first month event, Junk.Fun will distribute prizes totaling at least $50,000.
Below is a detailed tutorial and principle explanation:
1/ Enter . Connect your Solana Wallet at the top right corner.
2/ The bottom displays five main modules of Junk.Fun, which are:

Junk Destruction
First, click on Junk Destruction. As shown below, you will see details of your held MEME and NFTs, including passive received airdrops.
Click on the token on the left, then click Trash Junk on the right to receive Credits.
Currently, some MEME do not directly display token abbreviations and logos; this feature is being improved. Additionally, tokens like $USDT , $USDC , $TRUMP , $PENGU have been added to the whitelist to prevent accidental destruction.
After destruction, as shown, you will get Credits and Points. Credits are the SOL recovered after destroying MEME and NFTs.
Points, to some extent, influence the rarity probability when opening treasure chests.
Open chests on the Chests page to receive corresponding rewards. Click WIN IN LOTTERY to participate in the lucky draw for bigger prizes.
There is a 46% chance to win a prize in the lottery;
Opening a legendary treasure chest can yield up to 60% of the total prize pool.
Participate in the lucky draw on this page. During the first month event, Junk.Fun will distribute prizes totaling at least $50,000.
On the referral page, you can view your invitation code, invite more friends, earn more points, and increase your chances of winning big prizes.
Explanation of Solana account rent mechanism
Did you know that each additional passive airdrop on your Solana wallet deducts 0.002 SOL?
Yes, this is Solana’s account rent mechanism. Some may ask, I didn’t pay rent when creating my Solana address.
Okk, before understanding the Solana account system, first distinguish between address and account concepts.
In Solana’s architecture, an address ≠ an account. Creating a Solana address is free; it can receive assets, sign transactions, and does not occupy on-chain storage.
This is very important—no on-chain storage is occupied.
So when is rent actually charged? When the address occupies on-chain storage.
How is on-chain storage occupation calculated? Suppose someone transfers USDC to you; the Solana system needs to create a “USDC Token” account, which requires deducting 0.002 SOL from your balance as rent. Once the account is created, the USDC arrives.
Another common scenario is passive receipt of trash coin airdrops, where the system automatically creates trash coin Token accounts for you, deducting 0.002 SOL as rent. Your wallet receives the trash airdrops, and your SOL decreases.
Therefore, the relationship between address and account is similar to opening multiple accounts under your name to receive different tokens. Each account creation requires 0.002 SOL rent. Many times, account creation is passive.
The image below from Solscan shows the MEME token SBAE, where the SOL Balance of 0.002039 is the rent.
On the USDC page, although the SOL Balance is not displayed, the Owner Program is the Token Program, which still requires rent payment.
Why is there “rent”?
In fact, to prevent state explosion, similar to DDOS attacks, and to prevent maliciously issuing unlimited tokens on-chain.
In reality, to reduce the costs of normal project airdrops, the cost is borne by whoever benefits. However, many trash MEME creators exploit this to generate false coin-holding address data.
Junk.Fun’s core purpose is to help users recover the SOL rent that is passively deducted.
