Former U.S. Commerce Secretary: Trump's tariffs are likely to continue after his term ends.

Abstract generation in progress

Odaily News Former U.S. Commerce Secretary Raimondo stated that the tariff policies implemented by Trump are likely to continue after his term ends, as there are concerns in the political arena that removing these protectionist barriers would offend workers worried about job outsourcing and being replaced by artificial intelligence. Raimondo said that regardless of which party is in power in the future, the political cost of removing tariffs is too high. “Once tariffs are imposed, it is very difficult to remove them. No one wants to be the president who is blamed for failing American workers. Tariffs protect American workers, and I believe this becomes even more politicized in the context of the development of artificial intelligence.” Goldman Sachs President Waldron agreed with this view and added that the labor environment next year is expected to be more complex, which will only further exacerbate this political sensitivity.
