Sources say Iran will not participate in the US-Iran talks on the 22nd
Gold Finance reports that on April 22, Iran’s negotiation team announced to the U.S. through a Pakistani intermediary that, for various reasons, they will not be traveling to Islamabad, Pakistan, on the 22nd, and currently have no possibility of participating in negotiations.
Sources close to the matter pointed out that after Pakistan intervened to mediate and requested a ceasefire from the United States, Iran accepted the ceasefire agreement and agreed to follow-up negotiations to end the war based on the ten-point framework it proposed, which had been accepted by the U.S.
Pakistan also explicitly announced that the U.S. accepted this framework.
However, in the days that followed, the U.S. began to breach its commitments.
Additionally, during the first round of talks held in Islamabad, the U.S. made many excessive demands, which in effect violated the initial framework, leading to a deadlock in the negotiations.
Sources also said that in recent days of communication, the U.S. insisted on its excessive demands, which infringed on the absolute rights of the Iranian people, and no substantive progress was made in the exchanges between the two sides.
Therefore, Iran finally announced today that, under these circumstances, participating in negotiations is a waste of time because the U.S. is blocking any substantive agreement. (CCTV)
