Japan has 9 million vacant and abandoned homes.

By 2038, it is estimated that one in three properties will be affected.
Many of them are sold at almost symbolic prices.
The government covers between 30% and 75% of rehabilitation costs.
Additionally, Japan does not restrict foreigners from purchasing, who enjoy the same rights as citizens.
It is not an option for everyone, but it bears a striking resemblance to the €1 house programs in Italy, which were once dismissed as advertising gimmicks and now attract serious buyers in towns in Sicily and Sardinia.
The Japanese market for uninhabited homes presents a real opportunity for those willing to look where others do not.
In Kyushu, for example, you can find move-in-ready houses for between $15,000 and $20,000, in towns with hot springs, fresh seafood, and direct Shinkansen connections.
I plan to explore it personally throughout this year because the quality of life in Japan seems extraordinary.
Are we looking at one of Asia’s overlooked major real estate opportunities right now?
