On June 21, according to informed sources, Apple executives discussed internally the acquisition of Perplexity AI. If an agreement is reached, it will help Apple develop an AI-based search engine. Apple also has a backup plan; if the acquisition cannot be completed, they will “team up” – allowing Perplexity to also become a search engine option for Apple Safari. Previously, Zuckerberg’s Meta abandoned discussions to advance the acquisition of Perplexity and instead invested approximately $14 billion in Scale AI to obtain a 49% stake.
