Apple, Google and other 16 billion log in credentials leaked, encryption Wallet security rings alarm.

The Cybernews research team revealed that 16 billion login credentials from online service providers such as Apple, Google, and Facebook were compromised, of which the maximum number of records in a single database alone reached 3.5 billion. The researchers found that the data, which was primarily exposed through unencrypted Elasticsearch or object storage instances, included access tokens, session cookies, and account metadata stolen by infostealing malware. The incident poses a serious threat to the cryptocurrency industry: attackers could use compromised credentials to launch targeted account takeovers, especially against platforms that host wallets or associated mailboxes. Some wallets allow you to back up your seed phrase to a cloud service, which magnifies the risk. Security experts recommend that users immediately update their passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and avoid storing recovery phrases in non-secure digital environments. The identity of the original owner of the data has not yet been clarified, but researchers have confirmed that some of the databases may belong to cybercriminal organizations.
