However, according to Al Jazeera on the 15th, satellite images show that after the ceasefire protocol took effect, the Israeli military continued to destroy houses in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, and built defensive fortifications near the Rafah border crossing. Satellite images show that between January 19th and February 1st, the Israeli military destroyed more than 60 houses in several communities in Rafah, an area only about 700 meters from the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Between January 19th and 21st, the Israeli military built new defensive fortifications around the Rafah border crossing linking the Gaza Strip and Egypt, as well as a 1.7-kilometer road parallel to the fortifications, and established a new military outpost in the north of the Rafah border crossing.
