On February 4th, Jinshi Data reported that a riot broke out in a prison near Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, killing at least 5 people and injuring 3 others. Law enforcement officials said that the deceased were members of the extremist organization ‘Islamic State’ who were in custody. According to a report by Reuters citing the Tajikistan Ministry of Justice, the prison where the incident occurred was located in Vakhdat City, 20 kilometers east of Dushanbe, and 9 prisoners attempted to use homemade knives to kill prison guards and escape. Three prison staff, including the prison director, were seriously injured in the riot, but their injuries were stable and not life-threatening.
