The December 10th data from Jinshi News, analyst Shaan Raithatha, who leads the way, said in a report that he expects the European Central Bank to cut the deposit interest rate by 25 basis points to 3%, and to hint at further rate cuts at Thursday’s meeting. The senior economist said that this should reflect the softening of the rise outlook and the increasing likelihood that inflation will weaken more than expected. He said that the European Central Bank may choose not to mention the phrase “as long as necessary, policy will be sufficiently constrained”. Vanguard continues to expect the European Central Bank to accelerate the pace of interest rate cuts in early 2025, lowering the deposit interest rate to 1.75% by mid-2025, slightly below neutral levels.
