Gate Charity, Gate Group’s non-profit philanthropic organization, is launching a groundbreaking program with World Vision to bring sustainable safe drinking water to Tayundo, Ghana. With 45% of Tayundo residents lacking access to clean water, the community faces significant health risks, including diarrhea and infections, which claim the lives of many children each year. Additionally, the arduous task of fetching water falls on children, who often walk up to 6 km, preventing them from attending school and exposing them to potential dangers.

To address these critical issues, Gate Charity and World Vision have embarked on a joint project to build and install a solar-powered well. This well will supply water through a network of pipes, stored in a 10,000-litre tank. The system is designed to provide sufficient water for 1,800 residents, with one water point at Tayundo Basic School and two more points within the community for daily use, ensuring a steady and reliable supply of clean water.

Contaminated water not only jeopardizes the lives of children, causing severe health issues and even death, but also hampers their intellectual and social development. This perpetuates the cycle of poverty, making it essential to provide sustainable solutions.

World Vision, as the world’s largest NGO provider of clean water, has the expertise to implement this project successfully. However, funding is urgently needed to bring this vision to life and protect the children of Tayundo from the severe risks associated with unsafe water.

By partnering with Gate Charity, World Vision aims to create lasting change in Tayundo, ensuring children can access safe drinking water, attend school, and grow up in a safer, healthier environment.
