U.S. officials say the U.S. and Iran are discussing a ceasefire agreement conditioned on reopening the Strait of Hormuz
Golden Finance reports that on April 1, multiple U.S. officials said the United States and Iran are discussing a potential agreement that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a ceasefire with Iran. It is not yet clear whether the related discussions are direct talks or conducted through intermediaries, and there remains significant uncertainty about whether an agreement can be reached. However, U.S. President Trump has already discussed this possibility with multiple parties both inside and outside the government. On April 1, Trump said on social media that the Iranian side “has just asked the United States for a ceasefire.” But he said that the U.S. side would “consider” it only when the Strait of Hormuz is opened.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on April 1 that U.S. President Trump’s claim about Iran’s request for a ceasefire is false and without any basis. (CCTV News)
