The crypto market exploded unexpectedly in the early morning. Sun Yuchen's WeChat account was hacked, and the X account posted "emergency repair," followed by the HTX exchange's Hot Wallet being looted — $115 million disappeared without a trace, with ETH, USDT, and HBTC all affected.
Market data is getting colder: total market capitalization is $3.21 trillion, down 1.2% in 24 hours, with a trading volume of $124.5 billion shrinking by 5%. Bitcoin is at $91,200, down 0.8%, with a transaction amount of $62 billion, like a silent veteran waiting for something. Ethereum is at $3,045, down 1.1%, with a slight drop in Layer 2's TVL, and the news of Visa's payment network expansion couldn't suppress the panic. Solana has dropped to $139 (-1.5%), and the DeFi ecosystem is under pressure, with meme coin popularity plummeting. Cardano is at $0.41 (-0.9%), and the expectations for the Voltaire upgrade haven't stirred up any waves. XRP is somewhat interesting, down 0.7% at $2.20, with the UK's tax reform policy stimulating ETFs to attract $620 million, but whales sold off 12 million TRX.
Behind the cold numbers: The exchange rate of altcoins against Bitcoin has dropped by 2.1%, and the fear index has surged into the "fear" zone. 70% of the top 100 cryptocurrencies are in the green, institutional funds are withdrawing, and the shadow of November's -18% has yet to dissipate.
This is not a coincidence. Sun Yuchen's WeChat was hacked, a typical social engineering attack method; the vulnerability of the HTX Hot Wallet has been exposed, and on-chain data shows the shadow of the Lazarus hacker organization—throughout November, losses caused by similar entities of hackers have exceeded $230 million. Security issues are becoming the invisible killer of this cycle.
Still using hot wallets like this, I just don't get it—why not learn from others and use multisig?
Lazarus is causing trouble again? Damn, these guys really know how to pick their timing.
$115 million just gone like that—no wonder the whole market is dead today.
The signs of institutions pulling out are already obvious; it's best to exit early.
This dip is really no surprise, everything is as painfully expected.
No matter how many times we talk about security, no one ever seems to take it seriously.
Here we go again, is it time to withdraw...
Mr. Sun is really out of line, can't even protect his own account.
1.15 billion just like that? Can we still use HTX, brothers?
Security issues? To put it bluntly, all the major exchanges are just paper thin.
The panic index has turned to fear, should we buy the dip or rug pull?
It's really a hacker paradise, never-ending.
Is Bitcoin going to rebound looking like this?
BTW, cold wallets are truly great, lesson learned.
Why are there so many issues this November?
Are we going to rug pull again? Is it Lazarus this time?
HTX has really broken down this time, 115 million just disappeared, who dares to rush in again?
Bitcoin looks so silent... it's a bit desperate, brother.
The fear index has entered "fear", is it time for us paper hands? Haha.
The institutions are running? Then I need to run faster.
This security issue is truly an invisible killer, even more disgusting than the Bear Market.
Another hacker incident, who will be next...
Alts have been smashed again, they didn't have any pants to begin with.
What happened to the promised rebound? Is this it?
---
HTX's recent event is a bit outrageous, even the Hot Wallet can be emptied
---
$115 million just vanished, how disappointing this must be
---
The fear index has soared, but this time there is indeed a reason, it's not just mindless dumping
---
Has Lazarus been deployed? On-chain security needs to be prioritized now, everyone
---
Whales are still selling TRX, institutions are fleeing, this rhythm is quite interesting
---
Social engineering attacks + Wallet vulnerabilities, a double hit, who can withstand it
---
Lost 18% in November and still haven't recovered, and now this month adds more troubles
---
70% of coins are in the green, altcoins are down 2.1% compared to BTC, indeed still a confidence crisis
---
What happened to the promised Voltaire upgrade, why is there no splash at all?
