[SEC Chairman Atkins Advocates for Regulation of Crypto and Tokenization Innovations] Paul Atkins, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), stated that Crypto Assets and tokenization are the SEC's “top priority” and hopes the SEC will become the “Securities and Innovation Commission.” Since taking office in April this year, Atkins has emphasized establishing a regulatory framework that attracts companies back to the U.S., supports the development of Distributed Ledger technology, and plans to introduce an “innovation exemption” to accelerate the launch of on-chain products and services, while promoting inter-agency regulatory coordination. However, due to the government shutdown, the SEC currently has only a very small number of personnel handling urgent matters.
