Apple has been reported to be purchasing all available mobile DRAM chips on the market at extremely high prices.

According to a source in South Korea, Apple is purchasing all available mobile DRAM chips on the market at extremely high prices, even if it means sacrificing some operating profit, so that competitors cannot obtain enough memory chips. The speculation is almost identical to what well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in January of this year. At the time, Kuo believed that rising memory prices would affect Apple’s gross profit margin, but absorbing the costs would help Apple capture a larger market share, and Apple could make up for the losses through services.
