Been tracking the spot ETF flows this past week and the numbers are pretty interesting. Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $816 million in net inflows across three trading days last week, pushing total AUM to around $94.92 billion. BlackRock's IBIT dominated the inflows with $612 million—not surprising given their market position. On the Ethereum side, things looked solid too with $187 million flowing in, mostly from BlackRock's ETHA grabbing $168 million of that.

What caught my attention is the options activity heating up. Bitcoin spot ETF options notional volume hit $1.15 billion as of mid-April, and the long-to-short ratio sitting at 2.27 suggests traders are leaning pretty bullish right now. Open interest is at $22.63 billion with implied volatility around 44.74%—so there's real money moving here.

On the product side, things are getting more crowded. Bitwise updated their Hyperliquid ETF filing with ticker BHYP and a 0.67% expense ratio, which usually means launch is coming soon. Canary Capital filed for a PEPE ETF too, though some are wondering if that's just riding the hype. The more interesting regulatory move: Nasdaq extended BlackRock's IBIT and ETHA transition timeline to Q3 2026, giving them more breathing room to shift to general listing standards.

One thing that's been debated is BlackRock's new Ethereum staking ETF—18% commission on staking rewards is pretty steep. That translates to roughly 49 basis points in total return given current ETH yields around 2.74%. Some say it's justified when you factor in custody and validator costs, but others think it could compress down to 10-15% eventually. Either way, it's still below the 25% retail users pay on major platforms.

The bigger picture? Morgan Stanley's new Bitcoin ETF crushed it on day one trading volume, and baby boomers have been quietly adding roughly $500 million to spot Bitcoin ETFs lately despite the market noise. Year-to-date flows are still slightly negative overall, but this recent wave suggests some traditional money is finally getting comfortable allocating to Bitcoin and other crypto assets through ETFs.
