April on Gate Square begins lightly. You join the #GateSquareAprilPostingChallenge, make your first post, and it works. For new users, the reward is guaranteed. That first red packet feels like everything has a starting advantage.

But attention here is not free.

Every post you share enters a space where attention must be earned in real time. It doesn’t matter how well it’s written or how often you post—if attention doesn’t land on it, the post has no weight.

And without weight, it cannot stay.

Most posts are weightless.

They appear in the feed, exist briefly, and disappear without resistance. No reaction means no gravity holding them in place. They drift out of view quickly, replaced by something else.

That’s the pattern most people experience.

Posting more doesn’t change the physics of it. It only creates more weightless posts. Without engagement, nothing gains substance, no matter how much effort is behind it.

But when a reaction appears, everything changes.

A like gives the post weight. A comment anchors it. A share expands its reach. Suddenly, it is no longer something that disappears—it becomes something that stays.

Engagement is what turns attention into weight.
