ME News Report, April 6 (UTC+8), U.S. President Trump stated in a phone interview that the United States is engaged in “intensive negotiations” with Iran, with an agreement expected to be reached before the Tuesday deadline. “The chances of reaching an agreement are high, but if they don’t, I will destroy everything there,” he said. When asked if he was worried about harming innocent civilians, Trump said he believed that Iranians opposing their government would support such strikes to weaken the regime. During the approximately 8-minute phone interview, Trump stated that his special envoys, Witkoff and Kushner, are engaged in intensive negotiations with Iran. Two sources involved in the talks said that communication is conducted both through intermediaries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, and via text exchanges between Trump’s advisors and Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi. “The negotiations are progressing smoothly, but dealing with Iranians is always difficult to bring to an end,” Trump said. He also mentioned that a few days ago, the two sides were close to reaching an agreement to hold direct talks. “But they said they would meet again in five days. I asked, why five days? I think they are not serious enough. So I attacked that bridge,” Trump said. (Source: PANews)
