Just figured out the whole SASSA thing because I was struggling with updating my details. So if you're on the SRD grant and need to change your bank details, it's actually way easier than I thought - everything's online through their portal. You just enter your ID number, they send you a link via SMS, and boom, you update your account info. Takes a few days to verify but at least you don't have to go anywhere.

Now here's where it gets annoying - if you're on a permanent grant like the old age or disability one, you literally cannot do this online. You have to physically go to a SASSA office and fill out forms, bring your original ID, and proof of your new bank account (like a stamped statement from the last three months). They won't accept joint accounts or anything, has to be purely in your name. Then it takes up to 21 working days to process, and if you miss the 15th of the month deadline, you're waiting another month for the change to kick in.

Phone number updates follow the same pattern - SRD is super straightforward with their online portal and OTP verification, but permanent grants need you to visit an office or call 0800 60 10 11. One thing though, make sure you're always using the official SASSA website because there's apparently a bunch of fake sites out there trying to scam people. Not worth the risk honestly. Has anyone else dealt with this recently? The waiting times at offices can be brutal.
