I just found out what day Easter falls on in the United States, and it's something that changes every year, and it's more complicated than I thought. In 2026, it fell on April 5th, but it's not a fixed date like other celebrations. It all depends on rare lunar calculations that date back to the year 325 AD. Basically, Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon following March 21st. A bit confusing, but that's how it has worked for centuries.
The interesting thing is that in the United States, people celebrate with colored eggs, rabbits, and parades with decorated hats, especially in New York. Although it's not a federal holiday, many stores close anyway. But here’s the strange part: those who follow the Orthodox tradition celebrate it on April 12th because they use a different calendar. So, the exact day of Easter depends on who you ask.
Lent started on February 18th with Ash Wednesday, 40 days of preparation before all this. I'm surprised that most people don't really know why the date changes so much each year. Did you know?
