I started researching how much someone in the Mexican army earns, and I was really surprised. A basic soldier earns around $18,840 pesos per month, which is not bad compared to other jobs. But what's interesting is that salaries increase quite a bit as you rise in the hierarchy.

A corporal earns $19,548, sergeants range around $20,000 to $21,000, and when you reach lieutenant, we're talking about $25,977 pesos a month. But things get serious at the higher ranks. A colonel earns almost $91 thousand pesos per month, and brigadier generals exceed $122 thousand. The division general can earn up to $133,503 pesos a month, which amounts to over a million a year.

What many don't know is that, in addition to the base salary, what someone in the Mexican army earns includes benefits that are quite generous. We're talking about a 40-day Christmas bonus, a 20-day vacation premium, a food allowance between $1,515 and $1,640 pesos per month, transportation worth $985 pesos, and a technical compensation that adds more than 40% of the salary. So, if you consider everything together, the numbers look quite different.

To reach these ranks, you need to study in the Military Educational System, either at the Heroic Military College or at specialized schools. But if you're interested in knowing how much someone in the Mexican army earns in the long term, it's definitely worth considering it as a career option. Salaries are competitive, and the benefits are better than what you see in many civilian jobs.
