When will humanoid robots experience the ChatGPT moment? The most optimistic prediction at the Boao Forum: two years

**【Caixin.com】**The “ChatGPT moment” of 2022 changed the trajectory of development in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. At the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference on March 25, industry experts held a lively discussion on when the “ChatGPT moment” for humanoid robots would arrive.

Among them, Wang Xiaogang, co-founder of SenseTime and chairman of the board of UBTECH Robotics, offered the most optimistic prediction: the “ChatGPT moment” for humanoid robots will come in two years—between 2027—when, through an environment-based rapid data acquisition approach, the amount of data in the robotics industry will increase from the current level of hundreds of thousands of hours to 10 million hours.

Wang Xiaogang added that when the industry sees a “ChatGPT moment,” it actually means that the technology roadmap has become clear—expanding the scale of data along a certain technology route will increase the scale of the model, and it will also certainly generate returns.
