On April 8, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.

A Reuters reporter asked: U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer said the United States can still obtain China’s rare earth supplies at present, while it is also moving forward on multilateral agreements to increase alternative sources. Is it possible for China to resume export restrictions on rare earths to the United States?

Mao Ning said: For specific questions, you may want to ask the competent departments of the Chinese side. What I would like to say is that the China-U.S. economic and trade relationship is, in essence, one of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. Both sides should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, so as to provide more stability for China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation.
