just found out amazon used to have this wild thing where they'd literally open your car trunk and drop packages directly inside. like, to stop porch pirates from stealing your stuff. they called it In-Car delivery, worked with prime members in like 37 cities back then, but only if you had a newer GM or Volvo. the idea was pretty clever honestly - direct trunk access meant your package was already locked away before you even got home. they had this whole system where delivery drivers used an app to open it after you gave permission. sounds futuristic but apparently the in-home delivery service was working so well they figured why not take it beyond the home, you know? amazon was always experimenting with different ways to get packages to you - lockers in apartment lobbies, drones, direct trunk drops. never really took off like they probably hoped but the concept was interesting. wonder if they ever expanded it or just quietly discontinued it.
