Ministry of Commerce: In January–February, China's total service import and export value was 1,143.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%
People’s Finance and News, April 7: A person in charge from the Ministry of Commerce’s Service Trade Department introduced the development of service trade in January to February 2026. In January to February 2026, China’s total services import and export volume was 1.14T yuan (RMB, the same applies below), down 3.9% year on year. Of this, exports were 442.49B yuan, up 4.7%; imports were 258.1B yuan, down 8.7%. The services trade deficit was 86.52B yuan, narrowing by 865.2 billion yuan compared with the same period last year. It mainly showed the following features: the share of knowledge-intensive services in import and export has increased. From January to February, knowledge-intensive services import and export amounted to 248.23B yuan, down 3.2%, accounting for 42.5% of total services import and export, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the same period last year. Of this, knowledge-intensive services exports were 238.04B yuan, up 2.4%; knowledge-intensive services imports were 362.59B yuan, down 8.4%. In terms of scale, travel, other commercial services, and transportation ranked in the top three. From January to February, travel import and export was 60.96B yuan, down 11.8%, making it the largest single area of China’s services trade; exports were 609.6 billion yuan, up 22.5%, and imports were 301.63B yuan, down 16.5%. The import and export amounts of other commercial services and transportation were 272.32B yuan and 212.23B yuan, respectively.
