ME News, April 1 (UTC+8). The head of the largest energy company in the United Arab Emirates said that Iran’s act of blocking the Strait of Hormuz and cutting off energy supply to the Middle East constitutes “global economic extortion.” Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), wrote on LinkedIn that the de facto closure of this critical waterway is a “threat the world cannot tolerate.” He said: “The world must take action------together------to ensure the free flow of energy and maintain economic stability.” Al Jaber is also a government minister of the UAE and has long been one of the most outspoken business leaders in the country in criticizing Iran and calling for the strait to be reopened. Last month, he said that Iran is “weaponizing the flow of energy,” and he described the act as “economic terrorism.” (Jin10) (Source: ODAILY)
