The U.S. Senate Banking Committee is scheduled to review the nomination of Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chair on April 16.
ME News message on April 4 (UTC+8): A source familiar with the matter told CNBC that the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on April 16 to review Kevin·Wosh’s nomination to serve as the chair of the Federal Reserve. Another criminal investigation involving the Federal Reserve is still ongoing, and it is examining whether the current chair, Powell, made false statements to Congress about the expensive renovation of the Federal Reserve’s office building. Meanwhile, Wosh’s nomination process is still moving forward, which could bring the two parallel tracks pushed by the Trump administration into conflict. Banking Committee member Thom Tillis has already said that he will not vote to confirm Wosh before the investigation is concluded. This means Trump cannot advance both processes at the same time, but by continuing to move ahead with the hearing, Trump is evidently still trying to achieve that goal. The Senate Banking Committee has not yet added the hearing to its public calendar. (Source: Jin10)
