Just went down a rabbit hole looking at which companies are the largest employer by state and it's actually pretty interesting how much it varies. Walmart dominates with 2.3 million people globally, but when you zoom into individual states, the picture gets way different. Like in Arkansas where they're headquartered, they only have 11,700 employees at their main location. Meanwhile Amazon's spread so thin across the country that they're not even the largest employer by state anywhere.

What caught my eye is how many states have healthcare systems as their biggest employers. Medical facilities, research centers, hospitals - they show up in like 12 states because they need massive round-the-clock staff. Makes sense when you think about it. Then there's the tourism factor. Hawaii and Nevada? Their largest employers are hotel and resort companies. You can basically see the economy of each state reflected in who's hiring the most.

Idaho's interesting because Albertsons has 270,000 people there, making it the largest employer headquartered in a single state. Meanwhile some states like Alaska have way smaller operations - one company there only has around 1,800 employees. The range is wild. If you're job hunting, might be worth checking what the largest employer by state actually is in your area. Could be a solid lead depending on your skills.
