Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Group, Yang Changli: Strengthen the Nuclear Safety Lifeline and Inject Green Momentum into the New Energy System

During the 2026 National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference sessions, Yang Changli, a member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd., was interviewed and said, “During the ‘15th Five-Year Plan’ period, CGN will feature nuclear power, fully and deeply implement the deployment of ‘coordinated development of wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear power,’ and promote coordinated development among various clean energy sources, injecting lasting green momentum into building an energy-strong country.” Yang Changli said that the core meaning of an energy-strong country lies in ensuring energy security; having strong supply capacity is the fundamental and prerequisite. Among these, safety and reliability are the foundation—energy should be safe and reliable from production to use; green and low-carbon is the direction—develop energy that is friendly to the environment and promote a green, low-carbon transition in the energy mix; economic efficiency is the key—achieve reliable power supply through the optimization of overall costs; and self-reliance and controllability are the guarantee—firmly master key core technologies and achieve self-reliance and strength in the energy sector.
