Apple Mac Studio computer cancels the 512GB memory version; the 256GB version's delivery is scheduled for May.
IT之家 March 6 News: According to tech media MacRumors, yesterday reported that Apple quietly updated the configuration options for its Mac Studio computer this week, removing the 512GB memory version.
Previously, the starting memory capacity for Mac Studio was 36GB, with paid upgrades available to 48GB–512GB. For high-capacity upgrades, customers had to choose the M3 Ultra model.
Now, the upgradable memory range for Mac Studio has changed to 48GB–256GB, and the shipping date for the 256GB top configuration has already been scheduled for May.
It’s worth noting that Apple has also quietly increased the price of the 256GB memory model. Originally, upgrading from the M3 Ultra model from 96GB to 256GB required $1600 (IT之家 note: at the current exchange rate, approximately 11,049 yuan RMB). Now, the same configuration costs $2000 (at the current exchange rate, approximately 13,811 yuan RMB).
After IT之家 checked Apple’s official website, it found that there is currently indeed no 512GB memory option for the Mac Studio.
Apple’s removal of the 512GB memory Mac Studio version is very likely due to the global DRAM shortage wave, and extending the shipping time to May may also be one of the signals. From this signal, it can be seen that the AI boom—along with the resulting memory price increases / stock shortages—has long already reached the consumer-level market.
In addition, market demand for Mac Studio is also rising. More and more consumers hope to buy devices that can run AI agents intelligently on the local device.
