ABC Bus reduces service frequency. Transport Department: Must arrange backup personnel to provide service as soon as possible.
The non-franchised bus company ABC Bus said on a social media platform that, due to reasons including staff members not yet being discharged from hospital and other trips being unable to return to Hong Kong in time because of overseas travel, on Wednesday (the 8th) the NR711 departures from Zhaolin Garden to Wan Chai at 7:40 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. will be adjusted to 7:45 a.m., while the 8:10 a.m. departure will be suspended for the time being. In addition, four bus trips will switch to operating by mid-sized buses.
In response, the Transport Department said that if a driver is unexpectedly absent from duty, the operator must arrange standby personnel as soon as possible to provide services and reduce the impact on passengers. The department said it is aware that the operator is discussing the details of the service adjustment with residents’ representatives and will submit an application after obtaining the residents’ consent. If it receives the application, it will handle it as soon as possible.
As fighting in Iran has pushed up international oil prices, ABC said earlier that, in response to the rise in fuel prices, it planned to reduce the number of trips, but later said it had not obtained approval from the Transport Department and would maintain normal service.
