Just saw Senator Bill Cassidy's Q1 fundraising numbers and they're pretty interesting. Dude raised $783K, which honestly isn't crazy compared to other politicians, but what caught my eye is he's sitting on $7.5M in cash on hand. That's pretty solid position-wise. His net worth estimate is around $447.5K according to Quiver, which puts him at like 338th richest in Congress. Not exactly loaded by politician standards. The stock trading history is wild though - he's been dumping positions since 2016. Sold CMI and TM stocks back then, and both have done pretty well since (CMI up 156%, TM up 66%). But he also sold some Apple shares in 2018 before it absolutely exploded 370%. Kind of wild to think about what could've been if he held. Anyway, Bill Cassidy's net worth and fundraising position seem pretty standard for a senator, but those old stock trades show some interesting timing decisions. Makes you wonder how much politicians actually know about their own portfolios or if they're just doing routine rebalancing.
