Notably, since Indonesia joined the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in 2023, the country has increasingly focused on terrorism financing risks. Its financial intelligence unit, PPATK, reported a rise in suspicious transactions related to virtual assets. Working together with the Indonesian National Police's counter-terrorism unit, authorities identified cases where crypto donations were collected under the guise of humanitarian aid and redirected to extremist networks.
