China and the Philippines hold a new round of diplomatic consultations

On March 28, 2026, Sun Weidong, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, jointly chaired the 24th China-Philippines diplomatic consultations in Quanzhou, Fujian, with Enrique A. D. L. Herrera-Lin, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and a senior ASEAN affairs official. They exchanged candid and in-depth views on China-Philippines relations and international and regional issues of common concern. Sun said that China and the Philippines are inseparable neighbors, and that friendly relations and goodwill toward neighbors are the historical mainstream of the two countries’ relations. A stable and healthy China-Philippines relationship is in the fundamental interests of both countries and their people. China attaches importance to the Philippines’ desire for stable relations and stronger dialogue, and hopes that the Philippines will move in the same direction as China, taking practical actions to create the necessary conditions and atmosphere for bilateral relations to stabilize and improve.
