【Iran/Trump/Pakistan/Middle East/Hormuz Strait】 Reuters, citing sources, reports that the United States and Iran have received a ceasefire proposal drafted by Pakistan. The proposal may take effect on Monday and will reopen the Strait of Hormuz. However, a senior Iranian government official said Iran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary ceasefire, and believes the United States is not yet prepared to achieve a permanent ceasefire.

The senior Iranian government official confirmed to Reuters that it has received the latest ceasefire proposal put forward by Pakistan, the mediator, and is currently reviewing the contents. However, the official emphasized that Iran will not accept deadlines being set or pressure being applied to force it to make a decision.

It is reported that Pakistan submitted a ceasefire agreement framework to both the U.S. and Iran and is awaiting responses from both sides. The agreement will be implemented in two phases: the first phase will involve an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, followed by 15 to 20 days to finalize a broader solution and reach a comprehensive deal. The final face-to-face talks will be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

Sources said the final agreement is expected to include a regional framework to ensure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, in return for terms for lifting sanctions and unfreezing assets.
