Recently, I started thinking about something the community has been debating for years: what if Satoshi Nakamoto was never actually a ghost? Specifically, what if Wei Dai, the creator of b-money back in 1998, is the person hiding behind the pseudonym?
Think about it carefully. Wei Dai developed b-money, a project that Satoshi explicitly referenced in the Bitcoin whitepaper. It’s no coincidence that he’s mentioned. Many believe he was simply an inspiration, but others go further: what if Wei Dai not only inspired Satoshi but was Satoshi himself?
The theory makes sense. Wei Dai had the cryptographic knowledge, the vision, and the timing. He disappeared from the public eye just as Bitcoin was taking off. Coincidence? I don’t know.
What I do know is this: the wallet attributed to Satoshi today holds around $130 billion in Bitcoin. With that, this person would be among the 11 or 12 richest people on the planet. No face, no interviews, no appearances on Forbes. Just code and mystery.
And here’s what really worries me. If tomorrow that wallet moves even a little, what happens? Will the market collapse? Or is this the start of something completely new? Because if Wei Dai really is Satoshi, then the genius behind all this is still alive, watching from the shadows.
The current price of Bitcoin is around $68.86K, but that’s beside the point. The important thing is that Satoshi’s true identity could change everything we think we know about Bitcoin’s origins. Wei Dai remains the name many whisper when talking about who he might really be. Truth or speculation? The community is still waiting for answers.
