Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has recently broken with the tradition of “natural price drops” over time for game hardware and has officially announced a price increase for the PlayStation 5 console lineup in mainland China. On the evening of March 27, Sony PlayStation China said that, due to sustained global economic pressure, it will raise the suggested retail prices of the domestically released PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro, with the new prices taking effect starting April 2. Of these, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will rise from 3499 yuan to 3999 yuan, an increase of 500 yuan; the PS5 console Slim will increase from 4299 yuan to 4399 yuan, an increase of 100 yuan; and the PS5 Pro will rise from 5599 yuan to 6299 yuan, an increase of 700 yuan. This is Sony’s second pricing adjustment to the domestically released PS5 lineup after 2022, and it is also the first price adjustment following the launch of the PS5 Pro. (Jiemian News)
