Large-scale Saudi petrochemical industrial facilities reportedly hit by widespread attacks
Odaily Planet Daily News: In the early hours of the 7th local time, Iran cited unnamed sources as saying that an explosion occurred in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail Industrial Zone in the country’s northeast that same day, with U.S. capital involved, and that it was the result of a large-scale strike. Reports say that the Jubail Industrial Zone is one of the world’s important petrochemical production bases, with an annual output of about 60 million tons of petrochemical products, accounting for 6% to 8% of global total production. Several major petrochemical companies and projects are concentrated within the zone. Among them, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation is one of the principal investors in the industrial zone. In addition, the Sadara project, which involves U.S. Dow Chemical Company, and projects jointly invested by Saudi Aramco and French TotalEnergies are also located in the industrial zone. (CCTV)
