Abstract generation in progress

【Caixin Global】 During the “15th Five-Year Plan and the 5th Five-Year Plan” period, compressed air energy storage is expected to develop rapidly, but the industry still needs to keep pushing on cost reduction, the development of a standards framework, and commercial operations to gain market recognition. On April 2, at the 14th Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition, Liang Di, General Manager of Zhongchu Guoneng (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., told multiple media outlets including Caixin.

Compressed air energy storage is one of the new energy storage technology routes. Its principle is that, during low electricity price periods, electricity is used to drive a compressor to compress air into high-pressure gas and store it in underground caverns, salt caverns, or gas storage tanks, converting electrical energy into air pressure energy. When electricity is needed, by releasing the high-pressure air, it drives a turbine to rotate, thereby powering a generator to produce electricity.
