CryptoJie News reports that on April 7, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said he was “shocked” by Trump’s threat to attack Iran’s civilian infrastructure, which was the organization’s rare condemnation of the United States. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters on Monday that if Trump carries out the threat, he risks violating international law. Even if the U.S. attacks non-military targets for military purposes, if civilian casualties result, the legality of such actions would face serious doubts. This statement directly targets a series of remarks Trump recently made on social media. Trump had previously publicly claimed that if Iran refused to reach an agreement with the U.S. on opening the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. would strike its power plants, bridges, and other core infrastructure. At present, tensions have escalated from threats in words into actual military action. It has been confirmed that the U.S. military carried out an airstrike on the B1 bridge connecting Tehran and Karaj, damaging this crucial transportation hub. In response, at Monday’s press conference, Trump not only showed no sign of concern, but instead doubled down and reiterated the “final ultimatum.”
