The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India said that, to address the current energy crisis, the country is purchasing crude oil from countries such as Iran and has not encountered any payment obstacles.

This statement is unusually candid in acknowledging India’s energy ties with Iran. Due to U.S. sanctions, India had once stopped buying Iranian oil, but as the Iran war broke out and Washington subsequently turned a blind eye to Iran’s crude oil network at sea, energy links between India and Iran began to recover.

“Despite disruptions in Middle East supplies, Indian refiners have secured assurances for crude oil demand, including through imports from Iran,” the ministry said in a statement posted on the X platform. “Contrary to rumors, there are no payment obstacles to importing Iranian crude oil.”

According to the statement, the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that Iranian liquefied petroleum gas has already arrived in India. A vessel carrying about 44,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas is currently unloading in Mangalore.
