Cuba's Foreign Minister: The Cuban people are steadfast in defending their country's independence

On the 17th, local time, Cuba’s foreign minister, Rodríguez, publicly responded on social media to the U.S. threats against Cuba, saying that any aggression from imperialism will directly face the steadfast will of the Cuban people to defend the independence of their country. Rodríguez pointed out that the U.S. threatens to subvert Cuba’s constitutional order and control the nation. In response to collective punishment against the Cuban people, “it will not shake our right to exercise sovereignty, nor will it weaken our creativity in responding to the blockade and the energy siege.” After the U.S. launched a large-scale military strike against Venezuela earlier this year, it further increased pressure on Cuba, including implementing a new round of oil restriction measures. On the 15th of this month, U.S. President Trump said it will be “deal with Iran first, then Cuba.” (CCTV News)
