I just realized that many people in crypto don’t know exactly what it means when they see numbers like 100K, 1M, or 1B on social media. The same thing happened to me when I started.
Let’s clarify this quickly:
The K is easy—it comes from “kilo” and simply means a thousand. So 1K = 1,000. If you see 100K, that’s 100,000. 10K is 10,000. Pretty straightforward.
Next is the M, which represents one million. 1M = 1,000,000. When you see someone say they got 5M, they’re talking about 5 million. Simple as that.
And then there’s the B, which is where the numbers get bigger. 1B = 1,000,000,000 (mil millones). It’s the one you see the least in everyday conversations, but it shows up when we’re talking about massive market caps or company valuations.
The truth is, once you understand this—what 100k or any other number with these letters means—it becomes a lot easier to follow conversations on Twitter, in crypto forums, or when you’re looking at trading analysis. It’s not rocket science, but it’s super useful.
If you work online, on YouTube, in crypto, or anywhere you deal with large numbers, these terms will come up constantly. It’s worth having them clear so you don’t get lost in conversations or when you’re making investment decisions.
