State Taxation Administration: Over 70 million people have applied for tax refunds through 2025 individual income tax annual reconciliation.

Reporters learned at a press conference held today by the State Taxation Administration that since the launch of the 2025 individual income tax reconciliation (annual tax settlement) on March 1, more than 70 million people have applied for tax refunds.

According to the briefing, the 2025 individual income tax reconciliation began on March 1 this year. In the month since then, more than 70 million taxpayers have applied for refunds in accordance with the law, and more than 5 million taxpayers have filed their own reports to pay additional taxes in accordance with the law. Tax authorities have continued to optimize the filing experience, further expanding the pre-filling service. They have also added voice-guided prompts to adapt functions such as logging in to an accessibility mode.

Director of the Policy and Regulations Department of the State Taxation Administration Dai Shiyou: Please arrange your time reasonably and file in an off-peak manner, and try to avoid the high-peak period at the end of June. Taxpayers who are eligible for refunds should get their tax-refund “bonuses” as soon as possible; taxpayers who need to pay additional taxes should file within the prescribed time and pay the tax due, to avoid late fees from overdues and causing unnecessary losses.

Tax authorities remind taxpayers that they must handle the reconciliation through official channels such as the Individual Income Tax App and the Natural Person Electronic Taxation Bureau. Do not trust the various “tax refund tips” online. Do not provide your personal income tax App account, password, bank card, and other information to strangers, to prevent risks such as personal information being misused and account funds being stolen or fraudulently charged.
