Chinese Coast Guard spokesperson issues statement on Philippine Coast Guard's provocative propaganda and hype

The spokesperson of the China Coast Guard, Liu Dejun, said that recently, the China Coast Guard organized routine rights-protection law-enforcement training in the waters under its jurisdiction near Huangyan Island, and, in accordance with the law, issued navigation safety notices in advance. During this period, the Philippine side assembled a large number of vessels to rush into the area where our side was conducting exercises and training, under the pretext of “fishing,” attempting to create incidents, stoke and fuel confrontation and hype, and deceive to attract international attention. We hereby warn the Philippines: immediately stop provocation, wrongdoing, and smear-based hype. The China Coast Guard will, in accordance with the law, carry out rights-protection law-enforcement activities in the waters of China’s Huangyan Island, and will resolutely safeguard China’s national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
