(MENAFN) US and Israeli forces carried out strikes against two pier facilities in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s semi-official media reported Wednesday.

“Warplanes belonging to the US and Israel targeted the Doha fishing pier on Qeshm Island and the fishing and commercial pier in Bandar-e Charak,” said Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor of Hormozgan province.

Preliminary assessments indicated that two individuals sustained injuries on Qeshm Island, with three additional casualties reported in Bandar-e Charak. Search and rescue teams have since been deployed to both locations and remain actively engaged in ongoing operations, Nafisi confirmed.

The Wednesday strikes were not isolated incidents. Nafisi had previously disclosed on March 31 that the Bahman Pier on Qeshm Island had also been hit, and noted that a salt desalination facility on the island was targeted during the early stages of the conflict.

In a separate statement issued Tuesday, he further revealed that Shahid Haghani Port in the city of Bandar Abbas had likewise come under attack — signaling a sustained and escalating campaign against Iran’s critical coastal and maritime infrastructure along one of the world’s most strategically vital waterways.
