People’s Finance News, April 2—This is a critical period for spring irrigation. According to the latest information from the Ministry of Water Resources, more than 100 million mu of farmland nationwide has already completed spring irrigation. Since the beginning of this year, overall reservoir storage in key water reservoirs across the country has been generally abundant, and soil moisture conditions in farmland have been generally good, ensuring water supply for spring irrigation. Large and medium-sized irrigation districts are important infrastructure for boosting grain output capacity. At present, Jiangxi’s largest irrigation district, the Ganfu Plain Irrigation District, has opened its gates to release water. Through a canal network stretching 1,690 kilometers, it is ensuring water supply for 1.2 million mu of farmland. In Hubei, 146 large and medium-sized irrigation districts are carrying out spring irrigation work in an orderly manner. In rice-growing regions such as the south and northeast, all preparations have been completed, including water source storage, canal system maintenance, and water use scheduling, to fully ensure water needs for key steps such as seedling raising, water-logging fields, and transplanting.
