SAIC Motor's first humanoid robot is deployed on the production line

March 27, SAIC Motor’s first humanoid robot employee—“Nengzai No. 1”—was officially assigned to the Buick-to-Jing E7 battery mass-production line, taking on core processes such as cell pickup and loading. This is SAIC Motor’s first real case of a humanoid robot being deployed in an actual mass-production line application.

The humanoid robot was jointly developed by SAIC-GM and UBTECH Robotics. It features human-like capabilities such as visual perception, dual-arm coordination, and force-controlled gripping. It can autonomously complete tasks including incoming cell identification and intelligent path planning for gripping, without relying on fixed programming or precise positioning of the incoming materials.
