Trump dismisses Attorney General Pam Bondi, ending her tumultuous and chaotic term in office

Pam Bondi will step down as U.S. attorney general, ending her tumultuous term as the nation’s top law enforcement officer. While advancing the Trump agenda, she has repeatedly faced major setbacks.

“ We love Pam. She will be moving into the private sector to take on a urgently needed and important new job, with details to be announced in the near future. At the same time, our deputy attorney general, the highly talented and widely respected legal professional Todd Blanche, will take over as acting attorney general,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

According to people familiar with the matter, Trump has discussed the possibility of having Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, replace Bondi.

Bondi is seen as one of Trump’s most loyal allies. During her tenure, she pushed unprecedented changes at the Department of Justice, focusing on cases favored by the president and his supporters. In addition to going after illegal immigration and violent crime, she also launched investigations into political opponents whom Trump has identified. She also shut down the relevant unit responsible for investigating public corruption and scaled back investigations into corporate and environmental crimes.

However, Trump believes Bondi failed to make progress in the prosecutions against his opponents that he demanded, and he was also dissatisfied with how she handled the records related to the Epstein cases.
