Our country leads the successful establishment of an international standard for capacitors in the high-voltage direct current transmission field.

People’s Finance News, April 4—According to a statement from the State Administration for Market Regulation, recently, an international standards proposal for the “Direct-Current Filter Capacitors for High-Voltage Direct-Current Transmission Systems,” initiated by China, was approved for project initiation by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This standard is the first international standard specifically addressing direct-current filter capacitors in the high-voltage direct-current transmission field, filling the gap in standards in the related professional area. High-voltage direct-current transmission is a strategic technology for addressing the large-scale, long-distance transmission of new energy, and its engineering practice depends on the direct-current filter capacitor as a key product. Based on China’s long-term engineering practice and technical accumulation in the high-voltage direct-current transmission field, the standard comprehensively specifies technical requirements—such as quality requirements, testing, design, and structure—for direct-current filter capacitors and neutral busbar capacitors used in high-voltage direct-current transmission systems, covering key stages across the entire product life cycle. The development of this standard will provide a unified technical basis for the selection, manufacturing, operation and maintenance, and quality control of relevant equipment in high-voltage direct-current transmission projects worldwide, helping global power systems transition to be more efficient, secure, and green, and strengthening the safety barrier for high-voltage direct-current transmission. The standard’s research and development will be led by experts from China, with experts from multiple countries—including Italy, France, and Germany—participating. The formulation of this standard is conducive to promoting the advanced technical concepts of China’s core high-voltage direct-current transmission equipment to be shared with the world, contributing more Chinese efforts to the global energy transition and power system upgrades.
