Our leading international academic journal, "Vita," will be published.
People’s Finance and News, April 4 — Recently, a reporter learned from Higher Education Press that the international academic journal Vita, led by our country, will officially publish its print edition in June this year. The journal benchmarks international top-tier academic journals, focuses on the life sciences and biomedical fields, and the main journal will be freely available to research personnel worldwide. The reason it emphasizes “free and open access” is that this move reflects an increasingly sharp contradiction in the current academic publishing arena: on the one hand, the vision of knowledge sharing; on the other, the reality that the article processing charges of some international journals continue to rise. Some researchers have likened it this way: “The money to buy a research instrument isn’t even enough to pay for two or three papers in top journals.” Industry insiders say: “At the time, the invoice for our payment was issued to us for the magazine, and in the end they collected over 50k yuan in publication fees from us. For some journals in Europe, they may charge 8,000 dollars per paper, and some even receive 10k dollars.” (CCTV Finance and Economics)
